For a potentially better lasting product, I highly recommend inquiring to this place: http://www.guden.com/Misc/ContactGuden

They've proven to make some great lift gate pistons that were direct fit. Be sure to give them all the necessary data you can give them to have exactly what you're wanting in the end.
That data/info would be at a minimum of the following:
* Dimensions of the assembly
* Climate to which they'd be exposed to (four seasons of temperature swings ie: Freezing cold, Hot & humid, Rain/snow, Salt/sandy,
* Load it will at most carry (total hatch lbs)
* Quantity
* Shipping location limitations

I'd advise IPD or other volvo suppliers to leverage that link in the above to be a potential supplier if they wish to maintain a reputable retailing stance in the automotive hobbyist/maintenance market, but I am just thinking out loud.

It seems Stabilus P80 wagon struts are no longer made in Germany as I seem to recall this from the last time I ordered from FCP....though it was 2 or 3 years ago now.

Oh Happy Day!

The seller (Lou from Lift Depot) sent out a new pair, no charge to us. Identical to the ones that failed--Stabilus, marked 'made in Mexico' as before, in plastic sleeves. We'll see how these ones stand up...

His official company name is Lift Supports Depot : http://www.liftssupportsdepot.com
