Re: 96 850 Turbo Rough idle and die

Post by volkans80 »

Today i measured MAF signal voltage (2,4 pins) it reads 1.00V on idling and smoothly increasing when i throttle.

I drove the car about 20 minute everything is ok. 20 minute later i started the car and it died. I unplug the MAF sensor cable and when i start the car it starts hardly but idles good. After this i read dtc codes and clear the MAF error codes, i plug the MAF sensor cable and then it idles good again.

Also i just realized this: My car have LPG and LPG heater is side by side with MAF sensor. MAF sensor cable is very hot because LPG heater. Additionaly MAF sensor cable and main ignition cable are also side by side.

What do you think? I want to move MAF sensor cable another route.

No, i don't think it is related with LPG because when it dies on LPG it is automatically starts with petrol and then it dies with petrol.

I think that you can't move Maf cable because it have no additional length.
Did you zip tied it?

If you loosen both clamps on the MAF, you can rotate it so the connector points downwards/angled down, and then zip tie the excess wire to take up some of the slack. That might get it away from the coil cable somewhat.

Maf is secured with 2 torx bolts onto the airbox.
It's not the clamps which holds it to the airbox.
Clamps are holding the ribbed hose.

Whoops... you're right, of course. I don't have the airbox anymore, and can rotate it like that. I guess I forgot how it's actually supposed to be.

Because of car's age i already planned some parts change. I decided to do some parts today and i changed crankshaft sensor, temperature sensor and thermostat with original volvo parts also i resetted ecu and i changed MAF sensor cable route and zip tied. Now it is going to left side of the MAF. From left to right 1.MAF sensor cable 2.MAF 3.LPG Heater. But i doubt LPG heater increases MAF sensor heat maybe also sucked air. There is not a rough idle now but i am not sure yet.
