1998 V70 receiver location for the keyless entry/alarm system

Post by Miltown »

So I think I have figured out in all the confusion of FOBs that for my 1998 V70 AWD I need to take it to the dealer to program. That being said I would like to purchase a used FOB on ebay and can't seem to find the receiver for the FOB so to get the FCCID off of it. Any idea of the location. I have removed the glove box and it is not there as I have seen in many posts. I saw somewhere online that it is possibly under the cowl . I have not checked there yet. Any ideas would be appreciated.

On my 98 V70 XC it was on top of the instrument cluster. You will have to take off the dash pad.

Thanks that helps. Now I have heard not to buy used FOB because the dealer cannot program used ones , but not sure because I also heard they can. This is a 1998. The info on the FOB and keyless/alarm system is somewhat all over the place.

Thanks.

All you need is a functional 9166200 and a trip to the dealer.
Example: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... on-9166200

For a '98, it can be new or used, as long as it works.
No access to the receiver is required. Just money...
