2000 V70R turbo coolant rubber hose repair

Neil,
Spent some more time looking. I entered it in the log on April 4, 2016, but don't see much of a write-up. I did bkmrk 3 posts to use as reference and remember them. They might help you, but neither was an AWD.

That photo of the turbo coolant return hose looked OK. Not sure how old it is though. I've replaced that one twice; both ballooned as they live a hard hot life. The lower hose was original (!!!!) and a bit swelled.

You may want to seriously consider replacing that rear hydraulic MM if you're going to pay someone to do this hose. Not sure if your HMM's are original or not. It's an awkward, tight fit on a FWD turbo car....must be a nightmare on an AWD turbo car!

As you noticed. The bottom hose is tough because you have to spin the clamp around by hitting it with a screw driver and hammer. A really long screwdriver helps. With AWD I can't comment on the added difficulty but in sure it is a PITA

I got lucky on mine... the screws on my clamps are facing the bottom already

I've done this (the turbo coolant return hose) twice, once on each of the 850s I've had. First time from below...no room even w/o AWD. The second was from above while replacing the lower radiator hose and both heater hoses. Waaaaayyyy easier! This process is documented in songzunhuang's thread:

I've heard several times about doing it from the top, but I just can't see how it's possible. It's hard to tell from what angle that picture was taken on that thread, but the hose is clearly seen. If it's that much easier, I think I'll end up trying it from the top.

Follow all the steps in songzunhuang's post and after you remove the lower heater hose, it is right behind it off the same pipe the lower radiator hose connects to and under the turbo. With the intake hose removed, there is nothing else in the way.

I'll have to take another look at it in the future as I have another car I have to move first now out daughter has moved away and no longer needs her car and someone has asked to see it on Friday and it looks like a trash can.

I want to have another look as my car has the 19T turbo and I am probably wrong, but I'm sure it looks different to the picture you show.

I'll let you know in the next couple of weeks by which time I hope to have one car less to maintain!
