Here's my exhaust... the muffler hanging by a single piece of Volvo rubber, begging to be replaced... And the catalytic converter oozing from a joint...
If it were March and if I had less on my plate right now, I'd attempt to do the exhaust manifold replacement... But I can't do it right now. I did just order some OEM exhaust hangers (See, I'm learning my lesson, everyone!) and as soon as they come in, I'll drive on over to a local muffler shop and see how much they'll charge me to cut it out from the flex and install an aftermarket cat and muffler. I'm hoping it'll be under $300.
I know they might mess up the o2 sensors so I'll keep in mind the $150 I'll need to swap those out... (They should probably be replaced anyhow.) Man, I just saw on Rockauto they they sell Bosal exhaust hangers... Hmmm... Bosal is better than Proparts, no?
The exhaust has been so noisy and rumbly as of late. Anything over 3000 RPMs sounds like it's really choking the engine. I'll be sure to take before and after videos.

The whole exhaust looks a bit tired although the muffler doesn't seem rot. If the flexible is original is busted. The flange and bolts between the cat and the muffler may also be rot.
I would just not throw away the original cat unless it shows clogged. So many had engine check lights with aftermarket ones.
The flexible is cheap, some sell it with a cat http://www.ebay.com/itm/2000-Volvo-S70- ... Lg&vxp=mtr

oragex, you're reading my mind... I'm thinking it will be about $300 to have these guys sawzall off my exhaust at the flex pipe... And for them to try to weld it from the bottom... I just found this stainless steel header for our N/A on eBay... Don't see the "brand" so that scares me, though...oragex wrote:The whole exhaust looks a bit tired although the muffler doesn't seem rot. If the flexible is original is busted. With the bolt on cat you just linked, I'm under $300 for parts that will "hopefully" outlast the car... Though, I still need a muffler.
