Guy at work has one for $50 bucks.
What do I need to make this work in my Volvo, or will it?
I understand there are a lot of compatability issues that I will need to address I think.

I assume that Alpine is just a single DIN radio?
If so the only thing you have to do is cut the wiring loom off the connectors behind the radio and properly wire the speakers in

It takes an interface adapter.

Sorry my fault,
The Alpine is a 6 disc CD changer only, it looks like a clone of the Volvo 6 disc changer. I thought they may even be the same.
Today I have the am/fm/tape SC813 in my car.

The Alpine CHM-S600 should work with your SC-813 radio. I have a SC-811 using a S601 CD Changer and it works flawlessly.

There are many adapters out there, even on ebay for a lot less. Blitzsafe, PIE, and Soundgate all make adapters for our cars and if you are lucky you can score one for under $30.
