'99 V70 AC Problem

Well, the AC started acting up today. The Relay was ON, but the Compressor was not turning.

A few minutes ago, I connected a Test Light to the wire, right at the Compressor. I used a long wire to make the Test Light visible from the Driver's Seat while driving down the Road.

Tomorrow I should be able to tell if the Problem is from the Power disappearing, or if it has to do with the Compressor itself. The Schematic shows that a Pressure Switch is built into the Compressor. Conceivably, this Pressure Switch could be "shutting Off" the Compressor.

I'll let you know what I find.

Confirmed that Power is at Compressor during failure.

Checked Clutch Gap = .79 mm. Looks like I'll have to reshim Clutch to get back down to .3 or .4 mm.

I'll report when I get to it.

Well, I did it. Took me 6.5 hours. My AC Compressor Clutch is now gapped at .3 mm and is working fine.

I removed the thickest Shim and reinstalled the Clutch plate. It measured at .49 mm. I removed the next thickest Shim (leaving only the thinest Shim) and reinstalled. Now measures just a hair over .3 mm. I guess my Shims are thinner than the ones in the pdf.

My Bolt Heads for the Compressor Mounts were on the Radiator side of the Compressor. The pdf I read said they would be on the Firewall side.

Not much to add except, Thanks to all who've contributed. This knowledge saved me a lot of money.
