Possible Engine Fan Bearing Issue
Possible Engine Fan Bearing Issue
Is there any way to post the noise that a bad engine fan bearing makes? I believe that I have this problem on my 2004 Volvo XC90. Intermittent clicking type noise. Seems to lesson while applying the gas. The engine is losing a little (~ one liter) engine coolant every ~1,000 miles. (Winter conditions averaging 0c to -15c daily). I haven’t seen a leak, and never heard the noise while idling. Switching to neutral, while driving has no impact on the noise. It just comes and goes. The speed of the noise doesn't change noticeably, when applying additional gas.

By fan, the radiator cooling fan? To locate a noise, you can use a longer rubber pipe, one end at the ear and the other end near parts on the engine - careful with the rotating parts. And perhaps upload a video on Youtube and post a link here

Harbor freight mechanics stethoscope may be helpful. Probably like $10
