I made the tool today. I'll start doing it when it warms up slightly.

So I got one seal out (Belt side Exhaust). It appears that it just popped out of the recess that it fits. I replaced it and it went in by hand. I lightly tapped it with a hammer and seal driver. Should I be concerned with it popping out again?
The seals are original.

I would be concerned that the crankcase has negative pressure, vac, to hold the seals in place.
Did you perform the glove test at 2K rpm?
If it passes, glove does NOT inflate , then the seals will be ok.

I did a glove test and it passed. It is possible that the valve cover got loose?

I'm having difficulty with setting the timing marks. I don't have the pulley tool and nobody around has it.
What happens is I'll set the mark in the middle of the timing mark. when I put the belt on it will be to the left of the mark on both. If I advance it by one tooth, it will be the same difference on the right.
Is there a decent video online that can give me help?

What pulley tool? which pulley?
Tensioner? Mine used an allen key to move it if I recall
Youtube has dozens of videos but you have to get specific in the description.
FCP and IPD both have good vids on youtube.

I got it all back together. Even got the timing marks back to where they were before I started. No CELs.
I just have some short notes for the guide on how to do this job.
The VCT without the spring return have quite a bit of slack in them. If they are set to the forward mark they will be at the aft mark by the time you put the timing belt on it. As long as both are at the same position off the mark its fine. You can play with the gear (Fine tuning) but you'll bounce on either side of the timing marks.
Other things: You don't have to drain the coolant reservoir or the Power steering either. Just disconnect the small hose on the coolant and up a 1/4 inch extension in it with the hose clamp. Then it can be flopped on top of the engine and give you room to work.
Mark the top cover with paint because the rear gear is difficult to line up. Makes the job way easier.
I didn't remove the fender liner either. Just removed the front tire.
