I finally tracked down the rattle that had been plaguing my 850 for two years. Seems the previous owner dropped his one-hitter in the little empty space behind the driver's seat track.
Making my living as a pilot, the idea of having driven around with paraphernalia in my car for two years kind of scares me. Is there anything I can do to protect myself in case there happens to be something else in there?
Law enforcement, lawyers, please help!
thanks
bjk
By the way, how do I get that little plastic cover back on?
Things left in car by P.O.
That is kinda scary. Unfortunately, anything in your car is constructively YOURS unless someone else claims it. If for some reason your car was searched at some point and another little stash was found, a reasonable officer would see the stuff is old and not recently used. That; coupled with your length of ownership would probably get you back on the road with minimal hassle. I would do a thorough cleaning with one of those crevice attachments for the vacuum and not worry about it.

The Swede is correct, you are liable. So... clean out the car, completely. Include removing the rear seat cushion and the spare tire (good time to check pressure). Other than coins, throw everything away. If it is illegal, use a public dumpster, not your garbage can.

Wish I had a pound for every time I heard "Honest it isn't mine".
Only joking in this case. As suggested do a total clean of the car. Any contraband left will have neither your prints nor your DNA on it so you should be OK.
Which plastic cover do you want to put back on?
Bill.

A "one hitter" is a small bag of drugs or a single dose. Not normally enough to get one in trouble by itself, but if the polic4e pull you over for any legal infraction and they find drugs or any delivery devices, you will spend at least the night in jail. You will also need expensive legal counsel.

Thanks for the explanation. Living and learning....
I once bought a product at K Mart that I keep under the seat. It is a two pound bag made of some kind of plastic net filled with volcanic pebbles ( Zeolites is what they are called) that absorb smells. It woks OK, but once I got a call from the dealer saying that I had forgotten a bag of strange stuff under the seat and they wanted me there ASAP to collect it. I had a hard time explaining what it really was...

Actually this is wrong. As an ex-user of marijuana, I will tell you it is a small pipe used to stuff some in the end of and smoke just one puff at a time. They have been around for quite some time. Now days it might also be used to smoke meth-amphetamines or crack cocaine.Klausc wrote:A "one hitter" is a small bag of drugs or a single dose. I would have thought it would just push on.Power seats, there's a color keyed plastic cover at the back. It's about 3x3 inches.
