hi,
just got this 850 wagon with 115k, manual transmission - nice!
what's the correct idle rpm on 850? mine '96 is about 1,000 - i think that's a bit high. any idea how to adjust it or how to investigate?
cheers & thanx!
idle rpm on 850 Topic is solved

Make sure the air intake path is clean and free of gunk. Make sure air filter is clean/new. If you can get to the throttle body, spray some cleaner in it if it has a tar-like resin. All those will cause high idle.

cleaned air intake and throttle valve, but no change in decreasing idle rpm.
(also changes spark plugs and wire set, rotor cap and distributor).
is it perhaps adjustable through the accelarator linkage or through throuttle link?

You know, mine idles at 900 or very close to 900. I should have posted this earlier after truly reading the original question, but my brain was in the OFF position that day I think.
