Skid plate on '02 V70XC

I'm thinking about replacing the plastic gravel sheild on my '02 V70XC with one of the aluminum skid plates IPD sells. This is mainly because removing the gravel sheild every time I change the oil is getting a bit old, and the skid plate is cut out for acess to the drain plug and filter. Might this affect my warrantee? ( Does my changing the oil myself jeapordize the warantee? Some have told me it might) Thanks.
