This is my first car, I'm learning to drive at an older age and believe it or not, an old Volvo wagon was exactly what I wanted, and I love this thing.
However, this freaks me out, and before I go spend a lot of money on repairs I'm hoping some of you can shed some light on what you think the problem may be.
Car runs well, then when we shut it off it shakes and bucks and bangs, sometimes for a few seconds, sometimes just a few shakes or so.
The only thing that I can tell is wrong with the car at the moment is that one of the hoses is broken, leading to the exhaust, when I look under the hood. I know little about cars, some people have told me that it's a carbon build up thing and harmless? A relative told me her grandfather's old VW rabbit used to do the same thing and she thought it was common in older cars.
Any ideas?
Now off to shop for a manual for this thing. Thanks for your time, readers
