The last one I cut open had a nylon screen and the desiccant bag was oil soaked, so heating it won't accomplish anything.

Probably by some cheapskate wondering if 1/2 used engine oil would work as PAG....

Any decent dryer will work just fine.Any mid grade, just don't buy the cheapest out there, but you don't need to pay Volvo prices for what is essentially a can.
Car will be dead and buried by the time the new one will rust out

Thanks guys, and fair point JRL.

I used the $50 compensation and went for the OE as I do recall the aftermarket one I used last time, while cheap, was a bear to fit and in a tight space that is no fun with big fat fingers and hands!

I think I may have fixed the pump leak. Pulled the end cap that had been dislodged slightly and hence the leak. Cleaned it all off and re-glued back in with JB Weld Plastic waterproof glue. Re-attached to the tank with the rubber seal from the spare tank and filled with water to half way and have left with paper under it for 2 hours and still leak free. I will try to run it this evening to make sure I didn't glue the impeller accidently and if all good cancel the new one from FCP!

I just buy the Factory Air or whatever house brand is available for the accumulator/receiver/drier. I've never had any trouble with any of the replacements. I have had trouble with the OEMs but that those problems have been with holes rusting in them after 10 to 12 years of the winter salt bath.
