04 XC70 driver power seat issue

I recently acquired an 04 Xc for my wife and am working out some bugs.
One that has me confused is a power seat issue... The car came with the seat inop and at a weird position. I tried VIDA and it wasn't able to communicate with the module. I swapped in a known good power seat module from an 01V70XC and it works...but only for the first 30 seconds to a minute after hooking the battery back up. After that its inop again. You can get it to work every time by disconnecting/reconnecting the battery. I am looking for a more long term solution that that!!
Is this an issue with the "new" seat module being from an 01?
I haven't had a chance to recheck it with VIDA yet but can when I get a second.
Advice??
