I'm new to this board but i'll try to make my questions as easy as i can so i can get some help.
I recently purchased a 2000 Volvo S80 Turbo. It has around 140K. When i start my car i get the message "alarm system needs service" that stays on for like 15 seconds and disapears. When i check my message center is says "0 messages" and my little orange triangle light isn't on.
Sometimes I don't see this message and about the only pattern i can figure out is if I don't lock my vehicle after i shut if off and then return to it later and turn it on, i don't get the message. If i lock my doors when i leave the vehicle (i've tried using the power lock button, the fob, and the key in the outside lock, doesn't matter) and return later, when i start it the message will be there. I called my dealer and he said it was probably no big deal since the message goes away. Just wondered if you guys had any thoughts on this.
