After completing a compression test, my car began to run really rough. I figured out that number 4 coil pack was bad because when disconnected, there was no difference in the rough idle. So I got 2 from the salvage yard (1 for a spare). When I got back and installed the new coil pack on number 4. It still ran rough. I figured out that number 1 was now not working. I switched out number 1 and now it runs fine again. Is this just coincidence, or is there some other possible cause? I should mention that the check engine light came on earlier (a few days prior to the rough running problem) and I have the code for the MAF sensor reading out of limit and the oxygen sensor reading lean (bank ), codes p1119 and p0171. Any ideas? Enjoying the nice weather in the salvage yards at any rate.

Thanks,

-Feld

The often croak in packs, like lemmings. No reason for it but I've observed this across brands

If this is anything like the ones my 99 uses then check and double check you're getting a good ground. Each of these grounds to the head (under the bolt) I believe as well as the harness. Someone somewhere likely has a diagram you could use with a multi-meter to verify the continuity of the coil pack.
