Ha,

In the absence of fancy oscilloscope, a junk yard spare Hazard Switch swap can make the diagnosis quickly.
I am not a "part swapper" but sometimes when you have a spare and the swap is easy, why not?

Erikv, I have not replaced the ignition switch yet (I have a brand-new Volvo OEM switch lying around) but will do soon.
Now that jblackburn updated his thread (see above), it makes sense to me as a few things happen together (although this is < 1% of the time):
- Turn signal not working (hazard switch is working fine)
- Shift Lock inoperative for Automatic shifter

The only way to explain that is "upstream" of the Hazard Switch, which is the Ignition Switch itself.
Also, from my readings of the internet forums, people with exact same problem (only turn signal not working):
- Replaced the Stalk...very often the problem is not solved.
- Replaced the Hazard Switch...problem returned.
- So by deduction and by jblackburn's update ---> I think Ignition Switch is the likely culprit.

I will replace the Ignition Switch soon, but since this problem happens in < 1% of the time, I will need a long period of time such as 6-12 months before I can update the crowd here...LOL.
