Squeaky springs

Please help...I recently ordered and Installed new shocks, struts, hubs, strut tower brace, and vogtland lowering springs...All pretty easy, however the springs, which are car specific, and inexpensive, but made by ' the oldest spring manufacturer in Germany'... are rubbing the inside of the strut tower and producing a horribly annoying squeak...Which, for my obsessive compulsiveness, is maddening to say the least.
Any help with this matter would be most appreciated.

I have had a similar issue with my 2000 V70R. Not sure who made the springs fitted to the car as they were on it before I bought it along with Bilstein HD shocks.

One of the possible issues which I have not had time to confirm yet is that there are rumours that for some reason the Bilstein Tourings may have had the position of the lower spring seat fitted higher than the original in the recent past. I have not had time to get the car into the garage to check this but I have a pair of OE struts and springs and I plan to measure to see if that may be the issue or possibly the springs that are fitted are non-OE and possibly too long which causes them to flex inward toward the fender.

Having said that, I am still not convinced this is the issue of the groaning I was getting, and naturally having got new Volvo lower control arms and end-links, the problem has stopped for the time being. In my case it may be dry ball-joint on the aftermarket control arms the PO fitted.

What brand of parts have you fitted as sometimes certain brands are not well made or for some reason just don't work with Volvos.

When you fitted all these parts did you change the sway-bar end links? I have also been advised to load the suspension before torqueing the end-links as that can cause them to groan. Also having fitted shorter springs, I would have thought the end-links are loaded more as the springs are shorter, so any defect may be shown up with them.

Thank you so much for the input, from what I've been able to determine however, is that the springs themselves are actually touching the inside of the strut tower! I will put it on jackstands again and check what you have mentioned.

Check Neil's post again, what he's saying is that the higher perches on the old TC struts may could possibly bend the springs, and make them touch the metal confines of the strut tower. I think they actually just make the car sit higher, but who knows ...
