Just back from my Volvo shop to have the code read for the SRS light - Passenger Airbag. Codes had not been read in a long time and the Check Engine Light had also been on for a while so about 20 codes came up when he plugged in
I took photos of the codes to share and once cleared (2 times for good measure) they did not come back and no lights during my drive into work this morning.
He did find that a small hose that was not connected - said it is part of the emissions system that vents back into the engine. Likely reason for the CEL and about $40 to replace plus labor. He advised the original part is plastic with corrugated bends but the replacement is rubber. Replacing it may improve engine performance but could also lead to whistling issues? Didn't sound like a must do. have a photo of it as well.

In the U.S. there is a recall on the PCV system on our cars...check your local dealer. The whistling sound is a sign that it is clogged. Best to have it replace through the warranty if you can. What your mechanic fixed is only the tip of the PCV system issue on these cars...and he's right...plugging the leaking hose probably will bring out the true problem underneath.
