I was at the junk yard a while back and found a non turbo 98 S70. While I was checking out the front undercarriage, I noticed it had a black lower scoop that plugs into the wide oval opening of the bumper and connects to the radiator crossmember. The PO of my car put some cheesy grill wire stuff across all three front bumper openings because the black inserts were all missing. So, I didn't even know my car was supposed to have this lower air dam! I found the side air dam that holds the air temp sender as well. So 2 out of three ain't bad. I can never find the insert that covers the tow hook. Anyone got an extra for sale?
Anyway I got the radiator air dam part for $5 and now I'm trying to figure out how to install it as some of the clips are broken. I know I can use a combination of screws and zip ties, but I don't want this thing flapping around under the car.
My question is this: if 1-2 of the front clips and 1 or 2 of the back clips are broken, should I even bother installing this thing? The two side area where the short screws go in are ok. The piece itself and the fins in the slot are in good shape. Also, if I install this should I notice a general decrease in water temp at speed? I assume this piece helps force air to accumulate and focus on the radiator as it passes through.
Thanks.

What do you need to know? The air-dam is off my car just now and I have another without the baffles, so I can take pictures for you tomorrow if that helps?

Thanks. It just seems like some of the little tabs on both the front and back of mine are broken off - not sure if this thing needs every tab to be a viable part or not. I'm sure I could rig something up with zip ties. It looks like in conjunction with the snap in tabs, this thing is only held in with two screws.

Yes only two screws and snap tabs, and yes I have zip tied one that had broken tabs, that should work fine.

Here are some pictures as promised. There are 2 sliders (one each side) and 4 tabs. I would have thought that if any of the tabs or sliders are broken short self threading screws or glue would locate the unit in place either so you can remove it if needed or permanent and no damage from screws if glued in place.
If you need pictures of anything else on this let me know as this will be off the car for at least another week until I repair the front bumper!!

I bought one of these off eBay seven months back when I thought I needed it in order to install the air dam... I know, I know.
Does anyone know what this is used for? I don't have this on our 98 S70 N/A. It looks like it's supposed to scoop air and direct it somewhere. I have no idea how to install it.

I have, and am none the wiser for it or where the part fits and it's purpose. Same as with parts #28 and #29. I'd have to assume they are some additional engine under trays or covers used perhaps in some markets. Interestingly this shows for Non-turbo 70 series. I remember in Europe many of my older Volvos (940/240/140) had under engine covers to keep all the crap out. In that climate, it was fine, but I'd think somewhere much hotter it may cause engines to over heat, although #31 does look like another additional air guide but not sure where it would fit?

I don't know where it would fit either. Maybe under the radiator somehow?
When I was looking at the diagram on Tasca, i thought the air guide attached to it. Hence why I purchased it... Luckily it was only like $15 shipped...
You're right, it's probably not a good thing to have installed when stuck in rush hour traffic during a 100 degree day around here...
