Convertible top failure. Throws code CAB-316.

2003 C70 convertible, top begins to open but stops right after front opens about 6 inches. If I manually push top into storage area, it will complete the open cycle. When closing, I need to manually lift top from storage area. Code check shows a CAB-316 (rear latch, opening; Current too high) after a code reset and failed attempt to open again. Best I can determine, all switches are okay, motors will work if 12 volts manually applied , cables and wiring to top computer check out okay. looking for more specific information as to what this error code means.
