Noisy dash on 1999 Volvo S70

Okay, so we have a Volvo 1999 S70, and our dash, well it squeaks, and sometimes, it pops! No, i'm not joking, it makes a loud popping noise sometimes. But it *always* squeaks, which drive me and my hubby nuts. He's been looking around inside, but can't quite pin point anything, other than the whole dash wiggles. I didn't think a dash was supposed to move!

Also, how can we fix the kick-panels on both the driver and passenger side? We bought this car a year ago, and they were kind of loose, but after the last visit to the mechanic to fix the ECC and Timing Belt, they have completely come loose, and make the interior look awful.

I appreciate any and all feedback!!!

Yes, I found it thank you. My hubby temporarily screwed the kickpanels to the dash to help make it look better, and we thought about the foam thing, but he didn't want to to that, in the event that something else went wrong later, and then it would be hard to get to the part because of the foam stuff!!! We had the heater core (?) replaced alittle over a year ago, and the ECC sensor changed out a few months ago.

That's all lower dash and would have nothing to do with rattles.
I must screw down (up) those lower dash panels on 2 out of 3 cars I sell. A very common problem and that's by far the easiest way.
One sheet metal screw on the lower left side of the dash will hold it forever.
You have two choices, have the dash removed and reainstalled replacing all the broken clips (many hours and VERY expensive) or try the foam deal for 10 bucks

Well, my hubby had an idea of how to stop the sqeaks and rattles. he used a silicone sealant (clear) on either side of the dash that buts up to the sides of the car. I've gotta take some pictures and post so that you can see what I'm talking about. So far, so good, we've been driving the car over the worst roads we know, and no noise.

We also changed out the upper engine mount bushing last night, which I believe helped with the popping sound. I should have taken pix of the process, sorry, I know better for next time. But it took him all of 15 min., mainly because the old busing was completely deteriorated. He didn't have to saw it or anything, it just came right out!!

As long as it works and it stays quiet you've solved that one, now move on to the next

(Similar fix to the foam I mentioned, seems to do the job so you're getting the hang of it)

Yes I have exactly the same problem with my dash. I tried to put some doube-sided tape and it worked for a while but occasionally I can hear the noise again.

As a matter of fact i put only a little bit of tape inside so I assume if I put more the noise will be out completely.

My Volvo has an assortment of noises.
However, one cannot stay young forever.
I've finally accepted it as part of getting older.

IU'm going to try to post some pix later, so you can see where we used the clear silicone stuff. It's a silicone sealant for windshields or something. I'm a girl, I don't know anything....

That would actually be extremely useful. I can't figure out where to place the silicone and foam...I've been having this squeaking and rattling coming from my passenger-side part of the dash.
