I'll guess sway bar link. Strut seats are stronger than that, unless you used URO.

URO now make excellent HD strut spring seats for Volvo with extra material in the hollow area that the early Volvo units were missing. They also use the newer XC90 part number for reference.

The lowest quality strut seats I've seen lately are Pro Parts. The design is the same as early 850s. They don't even SMELL like rubber.

My bet is on the spring seat also.

I'll also go with end link or broken spring (these are a bit fragile on the XC70)

keep us updated

If a sway bar breaks the two ends stay put. The only noise would have to come from the "broken ends" hitting together.
My money's on something else....possibly a spring.

The noise at 0:17 is interesting. Sounds like a blue tongued lizard wizard copping a walloping from the suspension bottoming out.

Get your hand scraper ready :D

I say spring or end link. Spring seat would be one loud bang without all the clatter on the straightaway afterwards because the spring would still be under tension--just not as much. End link- if the top ball separated would get hung up against the wheel or shroud. If the end link came apart at the lower joint it would just hang there and probably not make all the noise afterward.
Can't rule out a LCA bush either. The flat round one if completely gone would result in the LCA banging against it's subframe mount from even minor road surface imperfections.
