Shifter skipping
Gear selector skipping neutral, car shifts into neutral, but shifting to reverse from neutral slams the car into reverse. You have to wiggle the shifter into neutral as it indicates reverse in the neutral position. Also, reverse lights don't come on. Help?

Sounds like a PNP switch problem, but since I don't own any slushers Ill wait for the experts to chime in..

PNP switch is what I thought too.
The action of your shift cable rotates the elements of the switch. There's a central nut on 'em which can loosen. I've seen pictures of them disassembled.
Go out and feel yours while someone runs the selector through its range.
Also, you can remove the 2 bolts on the shift cable and give the cable a tug and go through the selection range as you would if you were in the car doing it.
After removing the 2 bolts pull the cable towards the firewall.
Do this exercise on level ground.
