2001 S80 lacks power until warm

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

2001 S80 lacks power until warm

Post by mndave »

Have an issue with no power until engine warms up. Had codes for O2 sensors, replaced all four seemed to run fine for a couple of hundred miles now when engine is cold there is no power, almost like the throttle is blocked. Once it's warm it runs fine. No codes now.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

What is mileage and engine? Any codes?

Have you checked fuel pressure? What is condition of fuel filter and fuel pump?

Check your throttle body connections maybe something is broken or loose. With heat things expand and you may have an intermittent connection. Also fuel pressure may build enough to overcome blockage. Just easy ideas to look at.

Also look at your coolant temperature sensor and thermostat. These are temperature dependent.

Thanks. 2.9. Fuel pressure was checked and said it was fine, don't remember or have numbers. Coolant sensor keeps coming up as possible culprit. Will check items you mentioned and update.
