I have been driving it around for a couple days now, mixing it up between freeway and stop & go traffic. I sit in parking lots idling (something I never do). While idling, I let it rest in park and pull against the brake. Trying my best to induce the situations that caused it to hiccup on shifting.
The result? So far so good!
I did get it to do it one time, a long pause between 2-3, after I had been holding the brake for 10 minutes in a parking lot, but it was different. A shorter pause without as big a kick. I stopped and checked the ATF after it did it and noticed that even though it was warm, it wasn't quite to the "HOT" lines. I know I filled it, so maybe there was a bit of a pocket that sucked up a little fluid in the cooler and it needed a bit more?
I haven't been able to try and do it again, but I will keep trying and checking the fluid level! Fingers Crossed!!! I will take all these little steps towards completion over one huge hurdle to it. I kind of like the process as it's taught me a lot about these cars in a short amount of time!
In the mean time though... Other projects have progressed!!
I got an order for a Cerakote job on a set of exhaust tips from 8EightFab and while I had the booth fired up, I did some of the parts for Sven! Mainly the grill (which looks hideous in it's stock form IMHO) and I wanted to try and see the results on the engine covers. I just did a quick trim job on the cover to prove concept, so after I figure out how to mask it better, I'll start offering it! Everything from motor parts to interior bits is eventually going to get done!!
Don't mistake that black on the grill for Plastidip! You would destroy the grill before you get it to come off. No peeling or rock strikes here!! The process mechanically attaches itself to the part. If you care to see how tough it is, check out their video testing it's durability here! I love it because it's durable but it's flexible, chemical and UV resistant. You have to try really hard to hurt this stuff if applied properly! You read about these times where guys can "scratch it with their fingernail". I promise you... nothing that soft will damage Cerakote!! I got into it for my Lotus 7 build, but I liked it so much I started doing my firearms in it too! It's kind of an addiction now. I bring new guns home and 2 hours later they look nothing like they did when I bought them! There are hundreds of colors and you can mix your own (another fun part of the process I have learned), so really the only limit is the owners imagination!
Well... enough of the self promotion... I don't know if you've heard, but there is this thing called work?? Some guy just walked in my room and told me to get to it, so now I'm curious and need to go find out what he was talking about!
Cheers!
