Alright. So the wife and I found a car. 2007 XC70, 146K, well maintained.
The timing belt information wore off, but it looks to be in good shape. I'm planning on changing it at 180K
The only thing the import mechanic says it needs is a new set of lower front control arms and tires.
There are a few cosmetic issues. Some road rash on the wheels, Some scratches in the paint, and the delamination of the A pillars.
If I can find nice cheap wheels, these might become winter wheels/spares.
I'm thinking of going with Dr. Colorchip to fix the paint, unless anyone has some better suggestions.
My local volvo guy says he can do some interior work, but I'm not sure.
I'm concerned about the longevity of the plastic. Is there a treatment/application everyone uses to ensure it stays in good shape?
All in all, we traded our '06 MX-5 +$800 for the vehicle.
Here is the imgur link to the pictures. Any/all suggestions are welcome:

Looks like something happened with that A pillar liner. I'd remove the plastic trim and just make sure the side airbag (curtain) is well in place. As for the control arms, buy only Lemforder (original supplier) from the 2-3 internet sites that sell Volvo. Perhaps you know already but on these europeans almost all aftermarket bushing don't last

ALL these A pillar trim pieces are coming loose now everywhere. Bad Volvo glue and sun for 10-13 years!
Don't think about the side curtains they're fine.
Replacement cost at Volvo wholesale like Tascaparts.com will set you back a hair over $100 for the pair, 5 minutes to replace them.
Fixing them is a PIA and never look 100% as a rule. Some owners have done a great job if you want to spend 3-4 hours on these cheap pieces!
My time is worth more than $25 an hour.
A mild wet sand, polish and wax by a professional detailer should get rid of those side scratches, they do not look deep in the pictures.
You can Plasticote the wheels yourself... then find a GOOD Volvo mechanic for the rest of the (mechanical) work.
Have fun, 2007s are a great year for these
