Can't say I've heard of that happening on these cars before. Is your car turbo? It might be related to a turbo oil line if that's the case.
And you're sure it's oil?

Not sure how that is possible. Can't think of anything that is near there that would allow that to happen. Only thing I can think of is one of the floor rubber bungs is missing and oil is somehow getting to it from underneath and weeping through.
Are you sure it is not anti-freeze from a leaking heater core, although that usually only affects the drivers' side.
Neil.

Most probably the heater core or the lines/o-rings are leaking. It is an easy diy job. I think robert diy has a vodeo on this. Just be sure to place plastic bags under the heater core to catch all coolant. And try to clean the carpet as good as possible to avoid moild and rust.

It's really simple. Takes an hour or two. Nothing fancy if you wrench occasionally. Be sure to get the o-rings from Volvo. The ones that come with the aftermarket heater cores are pretty much junk.

Yup, probably the heater core. An oil leak inside the car sounds highly unlikely.

Almost impossible to have an oil leak into the passenger's area, unless maybe the A/C went, and even then, you wouldn't get very much oil.
Heater core isn't all that bad, just take it slow and easy. Took me longer to get the carpet and plastics back where they belonged than it did to swap it out.
If you get one from swedish car parts, I'd suggest running it through the dishwasher before installation. You'll thank me later as it gets rid of the oily smell from manufacturing.
