I'm new to the forums and hope I post this correctly.
I drive a 2001 S60 2.4 with 117k miles. Approximately 4 months ago my air conditioning ceased functioning properly. When I turn it on, it will blow somewhat cold for 10 to 20 minutes and then will stop blowing cold and all I get is a warm fan. Anyone else have this problem? Possible causes?
Thanks,
Dan

Most obvious is to have a good A/C person check your gas to see if you are low. If it is, have him add some. The port to add on your car, I believe is a high pressure port, that's why you really shouldn't do this yourself. If you get the same symptoms again, then you have a leak which could be detected through gas with a dye in it. Good luck.

I've been having the same problem with my 960 and have heard the same description as you posted from so many Volvo owners that I've come to believe it's a shortcoming in the design of the system.
The previous owner of my car spent almost $4,000 trying to fix this, replacing every component in the climate control system over a two year period. I'm going to live with it.

Someone has to, these problems can be very frustrating.DGoState8 wrote:I had the gas replaced and its still having the same problem. Is my only option to pay the dealer to check it out?
I just had the same thing in a car I won, the A/C just didn't cool quite enough.
There is a line (can't for the life of me remembe what it's called) but that was a bit clogged, replaced the line, MUCH better
EDIT: I remembered, ORIFICE TUBE
I discussed this issue happening on my S60 with a repair shop. They suggested "shimming" the compressor clutch. Volvo has a problem with the clutch engagement and this shim package fills that gap. They do this work for about $350.
