Well, that ended just about as well as my cousin's gate latch on his $300 Mazda Navajo's passenger door. It makes for an interesting ride...

I've snapped off my dipstick handle by moving wires around. I highly recommend Gorilla Super Glue.

Snapping off one's dipstick could lead to a very bad joke. At least you're safe.

I know you use jack stands - you'd be surprised how many people assume a jack will never fail...

I managed to break not 1 but 2 engine accessory brackets while pulling P2 white blocks because I didn't use a load leveler to maintain straight chains.

Luckily in both cases it was when the motor wasn't up very high. Certainly scared me. They both broke at the thinnest point on the bracket.

I got my HarborFreight bracket aligned so,that the cast bracket is held straight, the steel bracket is on a slight angle.

Right now, waiting for parts, all the weight is on woodblocks under the motor

OP: Using your power as a mod, I see you deleted my post being critical of you using S-hooks. Touchy, eh?

Though it looks like it'll work, you found out what happens once sufficient force is applied. Further, the rating of the steel is very suspect; it may snap at any instant when loaded. Third, no open ended anything should ever be used in such a critical situation. It needs to be secured and closed to properly distribute the force.

You do get credit for posting what not to do as sudden displays of gravity when lifting engines & transmissions are not welcome.

Did I delete that? Don't remember doing that - are you sure it posted?

Ive got a pretty thick skin, so unless it broke forum rules (which happens about once a decade) we don't delete stuff here other than dupes.

On edit - I did a quick scan of mod logs and nothing showed up as deleted, so Im guessing it never posted.
