:o A rubber plug won't hold 6psi of fluid pressure.

Threading's the only way here. You could adapt a large threaded plumbing cap I suppose.....large thread taps and drill bits are insanely expensive though.

Hold 6psi of pressure? You wouldn't be running the engine with the plug/ultrasonic element in place. You'd be letting it sit overnight.
If the piezo element is powerful enough it could conceivably just be stuck through the existing OE provided drain hole. However, without making a new threaded hole directly under the filter inlet the issue reverts back to how to get the junk that broke free from the ultrasonic cleaning out so that it doesn't just get sucked back into the filter screen again.

Set your clock already! Ready to do a new adaptation on it yet? Magnefine filter(s) in place yet?

The factory drain plug is only 4.5 inches from the hole I drilled. The fragments would flow toward it.

Besides as I explained using the upper cooler hose as a fill point can allow you to pour a solvent straight into the sump to help push things along toward the drain plug.

Are there piezo elements that can fit into an 18mm hole? The wires could pass through the rubber grommet. Then fill the sump via the upper cooling hose with ultrasonic cleaner like freon or similar. Only question that remains is whether 3.5 litres of fluid would reach the filter element. The sump may need to be overfilled by 2 litres or more so the ultrasonic waves can pass through the filter medium.

Nautic filter is not here yet. No more driving until it's in place.

Adaptation wouldn't hurt. Pretty good without it though....

Just an idea, what about welding a bung on the case before drilling it, that would provide enough meat for a threaded drain.

Or some sort of butterfly bolt/plug that spreads when tightened.

I'd be surprised if you could get a good weld on that area without removing the bellhousing and flushing the area. Welding on it in place would result in burning off some ATF. Trans fluid is generally a specialized hydraulic oil, so I'd be very concerned about that and the residue/smoke left in the transmission.

It arrived yesterday and will be fitted later today. Finally we have our tow car back as T5 is the only one with a hitch.
