The properly functioning release bearing is incredibly light, finger pressure. Daughter loves it.
Mike..that bracket was a clutch adapter bracket that protects the hydraulics, they are plastic. Good news is the bleeder threads into plastic do it never seizes
I was definitely saved by doing this in little chunks of time. I was about 12 hours all in, lost time on the. Engine mount issue and also did a front wheel bearing and all new hoses/coolant
I was getting a bit battle weary at the end. I had a couple of bags that I had not labelled and cross referenced to my notes, which is a recipe for lost time. Luckily I take a lot of pics and those saved me.
I do have one harness clip I'm still not sure is in the right place, and to be fair the NA wiring tray is different than VIDA so I had to write my own procedure. Next time I see an NA P2 I'll flag them over for a look. We've got 6 on our block!

Some more closing notes and slight regret
While you have to engine dropped to pull the trans, you won't get any better access to the AC compressor as its hanging out in the breeze. Definitely should check the clutch gap and then adjust by using shims for real as you get to it easily.
Follow up - when you get P0106 or ECM-104A its because you didn't notice you pulled the vacuum hose of the MAP sensor, mounted above the radiator fan. Volvo didn't notice it either, as they didn't write it into the disassembly instructions.
Plug it back in and you will be fine

Wisdom requires knowledge as a prerequisite, but knowledge can be developed due to a lack of wisdom.
