Just happened to me today... got a used strut off Ebay, it looks basically new with Volvo parts.. the strut arrived, looked really good with recent Volvo spring and strut, the bearing plate and the spring seat also look like new. And I've installed it today... went for a ride.. and a big clunk! I thought I've forgot to tighten something, stopped the car, had a helper turn the steering wheel while filming this:

Easy to understand my surprise. Reason: the previous owner put a cheap aftermarket spring seat on a new Volvo strut and spring. So basically he spent a ton of money for a strut and spring from Volvo, then cheaped out on the spring seat. The whole assembly is less than 1 year old, and that's how much cheap spring seats actually last.

The previous owner didn't spend a fortune on OEM parts. He mounted a quick strut from Pro Parts Sweden (if the photo is the a byctual strut assembly!?) about 180 USD each. The same quick strut assembly I mounted a month ago 😫. Well well... I'll do it again if necessary. Much more fun to change struts than changing diapers😀, coming to think about it.. buying low quality products might have some positive side effects! Please, don't tell my wife!

I have never changed struts, but plenty of diapers. Will this experience cross over? If not, is it in my best interest to purchase the "quick strut assembly" or piece it together?

Time spent doing household stuff is time spent doing household stuff, whether changing diapers or struts. At least that's my argument at home.

Wisdom; never buy a used car from a diaper changing father, it might be full of low quality spare parts😀 Sorry for this off topic drabble....

I would be suspect of any "quick strut" kind of deal, because if it's like that Pro Parts one, you don't know what parts you're getting. It's better if you buy all the parts separately and put it together yourself. Lemforder is a great OE brand, I wouldn't worry about quality one bit.
It's not hard to put them together with a quality set of spring compressors.
