Digital speedometer isn't working and getting erratic readings from the digital mpg readout also. Just got the car out of the shop yesterday. Had the ABS module and ECM replaced. Running fine except for these 2 new problems.
Anyone have an idea what it may be ? --thanks

Was the ABS unit a re-built unit? It sounds to me like either the unit is still bad or there may be an issue with the wiring harness connector at the ABS unit. Last thing to check would be the ABS sensors. Did those things work before installing the 'new' ABS unit?

Bring it back to the shop.

Guys --
As it turns out, the mpg reading must have needed a few days to get it together and seems to be OK but the digital speedometer (which I never use), sits at either 9 or 10 mph and that's it.
I can live with that unless you see a problem like it needing to function to interact with other "processes" in the car.
THANKS.

I am curious. What do you mean by digital speedometer? Is it one of the 6 (?) settings on the LCD readout? If this is the case, there are 6 settings it displays according to my Canadian Volvo handbook:
1) Furthest Counter clockwise (CCW) - Average speed. This displays the average vehicle speed since the display was last reset.
2) Current Fuel consumption is next CW.
3) Average fuel consumption is next CW.
4) Just to right of straight up is ambient temp next CW
5) Tripmeter in Miles (or KM in Canada)
6) and the furthest setting CW is remaining estimated distance on current fuel remaining.
So assuming you are meaning setting 1) above, if you do the same trip every day then the setting is unlikely to change much. Reset it and take a highway trip and see what it gives you.

It reads the average mph since last reset.
Try resetting it whil around town and seeing if it reports 30 mph or so.
I hope this fixes that one!

Ok -- thanks. makes sense because it's slowly gaining a mile or so every day. Started at 11 and now 16. Thought for sure there was a digital mph reading that was in sync with the analog meter. Had this car since 98, you'd think I'd know these things.

Hey, I still discover things! I found by accident you can tilt the front seat backs forward by lifting 2 small hidden levers low down on the back of the seats about a year ago. Like you I have had P80's for years and more than one on occasions!
