Digital MPH on dash shows only 22mph!

Post by RigsPGT »

Hi all,
One day I turned the switch to MPH and even though I was driving at different speeds, the dash only showed 22mph. Does anyone know why this function is not working or where should I start looking after? Also my cruise control doesn't work (not that I use it anyway) but I was wondering if both are related.
The ABS unit has been rebuilt by Matty and there's no ABS/Tracs light on, just throwing it out there in case there's a connection.
Anyone familiar with this? Both functions don't really bother me, its just gives me something to tinker with :)

Sounds like you're looking at fuel economy. There is no digital speed display in P80s.

Usually it would be an ABS problem but you dealt with that so I am at a loss. VIDA and DICE would go a long way toward figuring it out and I don't really know how to do it without a DICE unit. The only thing you can try that doesn't require VIDA / DICE is to try to re-seat the ABS connector and make sure the hood catches the pins and draws the connector into the socket.

First off, are you sure you should be out and about without supervision? That said, 22 mpg isn't too bad.
JK, dude. Matt called it - there's no digital speedo display on our Swedish rumblers. :)

Yeah I dont mind 22mpg as 16.5 is getting old looking at :) It got so old to the point I switched to temperature instead. Now that I see it makes sense, both average MPG and MPH have a round with a slash indication to them. Oh well live and learn :)
Thank you guys!

By the way, today is my blonde moment day!

I never really gave much thought to the trip computer. Mine is eternally set to temp.
At least it's truly real time and accurate. All those other "average" selections are just
estimated anyway. And as far as I'm concerned, there's nothing average about these cars.

So it stays on Temp - Just like my transmission selector is permenently set on Sport!

If you're joking, the E-brake works although I almost never use it (FL is flat) but if you're saying this because of my poor MPG, I was getting 17.X before the new battery now it's around 16.5 and I do mostly city driving with lots of idling and AC on full blast.

Now since I said I needed something to mess with, I might jack the car up and see if the rear wheels spin freely :)

Private joke between me and my friend from Norway. Most of Europe is appalled when they see how maintain our vehicles in the U.S.
