2004 V70 2.5t pcv service how to?

I recently noticed an oil leak in my V70. I will be crawling under it this weekend (as well as checking for positive crankcase pressure) but was doing some preliminary google searching and came across topics about the PCV system. The car has about 125,000 miles (I've owned it since 66,000) and to my knowledge the PCV system has not been serviced.

Since I'm sure the information is already on this site, could someone please point me to the correct posting(s) that describe this process in detail? I had found information about a "kit" and removing the intake manifold, etc? I plan to drive this car to it's grave and not afraid to do PROPER maintenance.

Often you don't need to purchase the full blown (expensive) kit. Here's my experience:

But you MUST buy the big, expensive pipe, it really can't be cleaned out properly

IPD USA have budget PCV kits. I used one of these on a customer's 2001 XC70 and was pretty impressed with the kit. Yours is the 115030 PCV Breather System Kit

The large hose runs coolant to heat the adjoining hose to help melt off the crud and turn it back to liquid. It helps prevent a blocked PTC nipple which can cause oil leaks. Some of the components are genuine so is pretty pricey.

You COULD go back to the 2001-2003 kit which will save about $100 however you will get a smaller PCV catch box.

Well I checked for positive crankcase pressure and I did NOT have it! I put the glove over the oil fill and it sucked all the air out of the glove! I then pulled the plastic cover and found oil leaking in/around the oil filter housing! I changed the oil and the O-ring. Hoping it was just the O-ring but I'll have to check in a couple days to be sure.

The P2s have a lot less trouble with PCV systems than P80s imhe.

Starting in 99 the turbos got a coolant pipe running hot coolant (?) through a pipe that keeps the expensive PCV pipe from gumming up,I think NA gets it later?

If you keep up on oil changes, 200k with no clogging is doable

I owned both a 99 and a 00 NA; pretty sure the 99 had the non coolant type PCV. The 00 had original PCV at 355,000 kilometres without any issues and no leaks.

The 99 NA I stripped for parts had non-coolAnt PCV , my 99 has the coolant pipe.

I still don't know how to describe this correctly. Coolant warmed PCV sounds stupid.

Steve, So not true.
Same problems, perhaps even more with P2s
