Those connections look great! Where did you get the nice set of Oetiker crimp pliers shown in the first photo?

Jason,

I got these Oetiker clamps on ebay for cheap. Thee is an ebay seller named john102561.
He sells Oetiker clamps, usually a set of 10 for $2.50 ---> $3.00.

This is what I did:
- Go to ebay and search "Oetiker clamps".
- Find john102561 listings.
- Buy different sizes: I bought 8mm all the way to 16 mm. It cost me some $25 for this assortment.
- Then I store them in well-labeled clear plastic container (hardware store sells this container for $4).

You will appreciate this collection when you need to fix odds and ends and need an Oetiker clamp in an instant!

BTW, It is much more expensive to buy a ready-made Oetiker assortment box ($60+) and they usually do not have the assortment you want.

Another follow-up, almost 2 years later, nice and bone-dry, absolutely no leak whatsoever.

@cn90. That is a great repair idea. I'm already buying parts and will keep them until I get a leak, or when I replace my ATF next time.

Two (2) + years and 25K miles later...the rebuilt hoses look fine, zero leaks.

Just an update...

UPDATE:

- It is now 4.5y/40K miles later, this rebuild using generic trans hose still holds up nicely.

Cn90, awesome write up! I had the oil cooler line start leaking on my 98 xc70 last week, and I used this method. For those that want to fix the oil line with this method, you will need larger line than the 3/8". No auto parts stores local had a size large enough in trans line. I wound up at a local hydraulics company and got some 1/2" line. The old line is a 12mm line, but I wasn't able to find it quickly, the 1/2" fits bit not as snug as I would like to see it, so I used a little soft setting sealer on it just to make sure it didn't leak. So far so good near 500mi on it. I'll update later on for you guys.

UPDATE 4y/40K miles later.

- Zero leaks, Oetiker clamp area looks good.
- @Oitsujosh, my 3/8-inch hose is fine. I don't know about XC model, but for FWD model, the 3/8" line is fine.
