My 2003 n/a has it (all rusty, by the way) but it's a S60. Perhaps the V70 n/a don't have it. I've heard the V70 have a sloppier drive. I'd surely install one if possible (if subframe holes already there, no interference with exhaust/suspension parts, etc). A used one with good bushings and two new end links should be decent, the bushings on the rear sway bar last much longer than on the front one.
As far as I know all the cars are supposed to have it. Without it they don't work according to design anymore. That's why I questioned it. OP: Check that you really don't have one before looking for one. It's easy to spot. No sway bar - no swar bar links and those are clearly visible by just sticking you head to the ground behind the car.

A V70 has a bit more heavy glass in the rear and is a tiny bit longer than an S60 but the difference in drive should be small by design. However if a V70 has spent it's life hauling cargo and then you compare it to an S60 which probably hasn't there will probably be a noticeable difference.

I must do that to my car AND I already have the bar.
1) Raise rear and let the wheels "full drop".
2) Remove rear shocks. You need them gone so you can squirrel the bar between the coils.
3) Fasten clamps to the body then add drop links.

That's it, right?

Thanks, Steve. Pictures are from the Craigslist ad that drew me to the car in the first instance. Haven't had a chance to take any of my own. Tip of the hat to moderator abscate for posting.

Jim, a/k/a JRL, appears to be correct as far as rear sway bar goes. No evidence of same present.

It probably fell off and you drove by it. That's good, though, as you can't practice unless you pass the bar
