04 XC70 Turbo Oil Return Line

Does anyone know of a write up on replacing the turbo oil return line seals? I have searched but not come up with anything. Thanks!

Worst simple job I tried. The awd gearbox is in the way. Dealership charges $600+ because they disconnect the strut and pull the driveshaft to create enough room. Angle gearbox has to come out.

I gave up when the landlord complained about the car sitting on jackstands at work. Had a shop reinstall it and they broke the gasket so it had to be redone 3 weeks later.

I wouldn't bother unless it's gushing.!
In retrospect it really is easier pulling everything out.
It's that bevel gear box that's right in the way.
If you have universal swivel elbows and arms as thin as spaghetti it might be possible without pulling everything.

Directions are easy, remove 2 cap bolts, remove clamp and rotate tube out.
Change seal and gasket.
Clean flange and glue gasket on with Indian head gasket shellac, that saves a lot of fiddling.
Reinstall.
Odds are the little clamp will not go back in place unless you pulled everything on the pass side drive assembly. Mine is in my toolbox.

Here's the process without the bevel gearbox in the way. Fwd.

Thanks, I think I watched a youtube video on the FWD models. I have a gusher going right now, not sure its that return line (which has seeped for some time) that let go. I will find out more tomorrow.

Could be oil cooler or oil feed line to turbo.
