I have what may seem to be a very stupid question: How old is the battery?
EDIT: I also seem to recall an issue with the battery cables in these years.

Got the new part....So....in between waiting on the genuine (Denso) crank sensor...one day the car would start, another day it wouldn't. One day it started in the morning but not in the afternoon. it's driving me crazy. I finally got the new crank sensor in the mail and put it in. I tried the car before I put it in just to see. Nothing. I put it in. Still nothing. I reseated the wire, checked wires on the cam sensor. Nothing. Reseated the computer just for the hell of it. Still nothing.

I guess I'm sending it to an Indy shop....which I'm not looking forward to.

Plugs should be <30k miles, if you have been jump starting at all it's time to replace ignition coils that are > 100k miles, and finally test fuel pressure at the rail. This is all stuff to check before ECU
I'll try that...thanks.

I'm tackling a spurious no start on my 2005 which is a a fuel delivery problem. Until you monitor the pressure at the rail, you don't know if the fuel delivery is correct, so rent the tool from AZ or sacrifice a pencil gauge.

With 0 pressure on the cranks and splutters but won't catch

I got it to start after about 30 seconds of continuous cranking. I checked to pressure with a pencil gauge and got 40. After the first hard start it started fine several times the rest of the day. I cleared the codes and p0017 came back. (crank cam correlation)

40 is too low but that might be the gauge.

If it is running smoothly that code is indicative , if not smooth. Don't take it as gospel.

Tried the fuel pump relay yet? Those things are notorious for acting up in the cold after 10 years.

You don't get a traditional relay on a P2 fuel delivery system

The Central Electronic Module CEM sends requests to the PEM (or Fuel Pump Control Module) in the back of the car (fuel tank mount or inside spare tire, right side). There is a hard soldered relay in the CEM which is the supply voltage to the PEM (A16 on a V70 car - probably same on an S)

The failure points are the wiring to PEM, the PEM itself, and the fuel pumps.

Don't feel bad. I bought a $350 throttle body that didn't solve my problem - reseating the ECU into the connector fixed it. I think that's what I'd try if I was you. Hit the link below.

Could you post that Walmart link again? The link above isn't working...
