2002 S60 T5 Turbo Cooling Outlet Hose?

Post by dinosd »

I found built-up coolant spray on the backside of the engine. I did a little bit of internet research and discovered a common overlooked service item is a short (approx. 3" long P/N 31439471). I found lots of photos and videos showing this thing connecting between a hard-line coming from the turbo and a hard-line return. However, they all seem to show it located on the passenger side just over the heat shield.

However after I got all of the built-up coolant spay cleaned up there is no hose at that location at all. It's a hardline from the turbo (banjo bolt) connecting to another (flanged) hard-line. That connection looks to be where the leek was coming from, but after cleaning it up, I can't identify any leaks. And that hose that I ordered? Is that even applicable for the '02 T5 or is it located in some other hidden place that I couldn't find?

There are two shortcoolanthoses on a T5, one on pass side and one Buried under turbo.

The second is a lot of fun.
