Here are the details. Somehow fried the ECC after disconnecting the battery. ECC had no power to it, fuses are fine. AFter reading an article on the forum that suggested having the software reloaded by the dealer, their system showed "CEM SIGNAL MISSING FROM ECC". Something of that sort. The mechanic told me the system could not install the ECC software because the CEM could not communicate with it. He said there was no power to the ECC. That I believe 'cause not even the LEDS would light.
Their recommendation was to replace the ECC at $1000.00 CDN. Too expensive. Bought one from a junk yard and installed it. It powered up no problem. Now here's the issue.
The heated seat; rear defrost and trunk lock buttons would not work. Everthing else works including the fan and dampers, but A/C still blows warm. Went back to dealer, they still said no communication with ECC. They said it's because the ECC is used and has an ID to it. Further more it should not work at all. The mechanic said it is very strange that some of it works and I should get a new one. I don't believe it.
MIJ: if you read this post, you mentioned somewhere on the forum about having to SET a new or used one if it's replaced. Beacuse it's partially working that tells me the software is OK. If I need ot SET it, how do I do that. Thanks so much for all the help.....
