I realize that, but at a certain point dumping money into a car and getting no results is very frustrating. Especially when it requires a 3rd party to simply program something to your car. And theres 2 options for that, they have a corner on the market ie charge whatever you want cause you cant go elsewhere.
Anyways, I will get it fixed eventually. Might to on the back burner for a second. Working to buy a house so spending 3-500 bucks right now isnt realistic. At what point will I need to have an ETM programmed? Can I swap in a used one to buy time?
And will a rebuilt one by myself need programmed? I would rather avoid that.
crank, no start.

If you replace the contact carbon film board with the non-contact Sacher I don't think you will need to clone the ETM - check out the ETM room Forum downstairs on this.
A swap with a used is a 20% probability bet of working.
User double bug here on MVS is a third option for ETM programming if you have VIDA and DICE

well i had the ca parked on the street and decided to pull it ito my driveway, code enforcement is intense around here, and the car drove fine. so i decided to take a drive and sre enough the car operated fine. plenty of power, no hesitation nothing. started right up and drove like you would expect. however when i put the car into manual shift mode i noticed the gear selector felt funny. or not right. put it into second and took a corner. went to shift up and it automatically went into 5th gear. only moving out 40mph. tried to downshift but the selector felt floppy i would call it. kinda just freely moved up, not the normal resistance i was used to. when i let go it immediatly went right back into 5th. tried to put into drive to just make it up and it wont go. flips right back into manual mode and upshifts as high as it can. had to physically hold it in drive to make it home. sitting in the driveway i had to kinda smack it over to get it to go over and up into park. something is bound up, but not sure where to start. plus i never even messed with any thing transmission related, but then again i could have bumped something under the hood. ideas?

Pull the bezel off the shifter and look for something broken. You won't be the first person to have a plastic piece in the shifter assembly break and make the transmission control go wanky.
