Re: Dim Headlights
OSRM owns Sylvania. I too put a pair of the silverstars in my car. It did make an improvement. Not as big of improvement as it did on my wifes '01 civic. Some day, I may just spend the big money and get the clear lens lights from an '04 C70, then those sylverstars will shine.
If you don't care about a "white-ish" look to the headlights, Philips X-treme Power are one of the brightest Halogen bulbs currently available in the market.
I have these in my 855 and Subaru Impreza, bright bulbs but the light is yellow.

I just bought a '98 V70, and last night I drove it for the first time after dark. Holy Dimbulb! I would do better sitting on the hood with a Zippo. I snooped around the net last night and learned of a few possibilities for the cause of this dangerous situation. One that I haven't seen mentioned in the other responses here is corroded ground wires from the headlights. I don't know where on the car they are, or even if I can fix them, but I will find mine today. Another recommendation was to pick up a pair of Euro-spec headlamp lenses. They are, apparently, much better at getting the light out onto the road ahead. (Thanks a lot, US DOT!)
Btw, I've tried the Sylvania/Osram superwhite bulbs before on other vehicles. While way whiter than the stock bulbs, they never lasted more than a few months. I stopped using because of that. Your mileage may vary.
Good luck and be super-safe after dark in the meantime. These are scary lights.

I also have very dim lights lately. Had a battery at the end of its life so I replaced and lights still dim. I measure 11.69 volts at both low beam plugs. Is this close enough to the 12v or do I have a volt supply problem?
I checked the charging system with measurements at the battery - I measured 12.4v engine off; 14.2v running at idle and 13.5v under load (lights, high beams, radio, AC on hi).
thanks

Isn't this almost always the case? Especially at 19 years old for some of us...
Pricing some new headlights. Seems like the cheapest, new, headlights can be had for about $150 shipped via eBay.

I love the sentence, Jimmy. But I think we can find a way to fit more words that reflect the warmth and attentiveness of the MVS community!

Wisdom requires knowledge as a prerequisite, but knowledge can be developed due to a lack of wisdom.
In order to learn how to fix something, you must first learn how to break it.

You have some sort of supply problem - those should be at the ~13.5V you see at the battery. Either a bad wire, relay, or ground issue.dono wrote: ↑07 Apr 2018, 14:18 2004 V70 AWD t2.5 wagon

Thanks, was wondering what sort of options we had. So do the 03-04 C70 lights fit into the P80s? Or is that strictly a 'bastards' thing?wizechatmgr wrote: ↑07 Apr 2018, 17:13 I went the crystal route and was very pleased.

It fits on the bastards. If the bastards fit yours then it should fit. I'll wait for someone sure to give a definite answer. The last thing you want to do is pull the trigger on something that won't fit...
