Alignment after shocks

Alignment after shocks

I have a 1998 volvo V70.
If I change the Front Shocks ONLY - can anyone tell me if you definitely need an alignment.
I have heard conflicting stories on this.
The alignment center would probably say yes - but can you'd expect them to say that :? :? .

You should not need it, unless the shocks will change the ride height or if the control arms are worn.

You may want to look to the spring seats as well (go only with Sachs)

It's not so much the new shocks as the fact that you're taking everything apart. There are several places with some possibility of adjustment that you'd need to be very sure they're back in the same place. Both at the top of the strut and the bottom.

An alignment is cheaper than new tyres. At least if you run good tyres ;-)

No allignment is needed unless you disturb tie rods.

I would. Strut only shouldn't mess with the toe in/out, but it will likely mess with the camber when you reattach the hub/brake assembly. Not as big of a deal as the toe, so you can maybe get away with not doing it.

These cars have fixed camber and it's not adjustable.
On some cars it's adjustable,but on these cars it's not.

Simply put the new shocks on, then monitor your tire wear. Make sure you report back when you see it is normal without alignment

Shouldn't need it. You can usually get it checked for free, though to be fair I never do that ...

Really? Because every alignment shop I've been to says they adjusted the camber. They also say the rear-end alignment is non-adjustable.

Yes really...change the allignment shop.
I wouldn't go back to them again.
