Oil leak

Post by Tmadevt »

I've located the area where the leak is. Its a 2005 XC90 V8 witg the 4.4. Can't figure out what exactly is the problem. I've done the glove test for the pvc and that seemed fine. The leak causes a decent sized puddle after being parked and the passenger side of the engine compartment has a good amount all over. I've cleaned the engine up so it's not as bad. Have to put a quart in every 2 weeks or so. Great vehicle I absolutely love it. Hoping that it's not a major problem.

Interesting leak, can see this photo for more reference as to engine layout.

Hoping it's a valve cover gasket issue, and not timing cover.

expect it to be the valve cover leaking, it is common to the early 4.4s
Current Volvos:
1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)
