Problem after putting starter in 01 s60

Yeah I mean it already came off once, so I was trying to get the thing to stay on ya know. Right after I got it back on the first time.....I went to the battery to put the terminals back on and wouldn't you know. Both terminal bolts snapped from being really rusty. I guess it just wasn't my day yesterday.

You need to use the Volvo Clamps on the charge air tube - they won't snap like the cheap ones.

I guess I'll have to order one then. I went to the hardware store and got a basic hose clamp. I have a feeling that this one I got will strip just as easy. The clamp that's on now seems to be decently solid, but I think the screw part just stripped.

Agree the clamp is most likely is stripped and that normal store clamps are not so good. If you look at the clamp you will see that the rectangular shaped holes or ladder is stripped, bent or otherwise deformed, where the actual clamping starts.

Just maybe you can try this workaround. Look for an easy accessible clamp of the same size on the car - sometimes you can get lucky and two will be the same size or close. Pick an air hose from the plastic plumbing section, not a liquid hose as you don't want leaks. Swap the two clamps, but make sure the "donor" clamp is in good shape before installing it.

For the relocation of the "original" clamp. If you are lucky the "original" clamp will tighten at a good point on the clamp and work - if you are not lucky you can try adding a piece of rubber hose (like from a bike tire) onto the outside of where the clamp is going to sit to make the diameter greater and permitting the hose clamp to work. If you buy a store clamp of questionable quality you can also try it at the easy access joint. Since it only takes a few minutes to swap at the changed location it is worth a shot - at least you can get on the road until a new quality clamp is acquired and installed.

So.... I went and just got a hose clamp from the auto parts store. I haven't had time to put it on yet. Hopefully I can mess with it today after work. It looks like the end of the charge tube that goes on to the throttle body got almost like chewed up a little bit. Nothing bad or major, but I really cannot see anything down there when I'm putting the tube on or taking it off. I did take the fan back out to allow for more arm space. I may just try to get a little mirror of some kind to hold down in the to see if the charge tube is on right when I'm about to tighten the hose clamp. This will probably be quite fun with tight spaces haha.
