Moisture in distributor cap

I have a Volvo v70 1998 wagon and I believe that I have moisture in the distributor cap as the car cranks but won't spark in and shortly after rain. I really don't want to spend much money as the car is on its last legs. Can I put heat resistant tape around the seals are does anyone know of another quick fix? Thanks in advance.

pull the cap and wipe it out. maybe smear some wax on the cap flange. Do a glove test,

A Nitrile glove has four fingers and a thumb - so if you cut one more hole for the coil wire you have a perfect Volvo waterproofing sleeve.

Try to see where there is water getting into that area. Being that there's no seal on the cap, you probably won't have to worry about changing any of that.
Might be worth pulling it anyway to check for oil, your cam seal may be leaking.

+1 to smearing grease on the cap to head flange.
