My cousin has a Snabb elbow. The spool is definitely a little louder, and it seems the turbo spools a LITTLE quicker. Like people have said, it's more for the noise and appearance than performance. Although with that stock bottleneck, it must do SOMETHING.

Of course it does. Its just the same as saying "Vroom Vroom Vroom" in the seat in traffic.

Hows that R coming? June and I are way ahead..

Currently searching for the right parts car to simplify some things! The R still sits on jack stands... although nothing more than the transmission needs to come out once I finally decide to drop the subframe.
Still looking for an M46 for my 740, so it's kind of a flip flop between the two cars haha

Fortunately the R should have the power to catch up and pass both of you!

Didn't do anything to the 'R' today except remove it from the garage and drive it about 60km. Car has only been driven about 4 times this year. It ran mostly well, but a lot of vibration which I put down to flat spotted tires from sitting. Return journey saw significant improvement in brake quality and reduced vibration. I actually really enjoyed driving it again.

It is great to drive the car without all the groans from the suspension, and then from me having to listen to it! Car ran really well otherwise. Will be driving it a little more over the next few months as I have work to do on the 4Runner V8 project.

Once that is complete, I will have to make the hard decision of should it stay or go. I don't drive it enough and get constantly frustrated that every time it is parked it draws another parking ding no matter where I park it. Just can't keep a nice car here in Calgary as the poor drivers here don't give a damn about others cars.

Yes, a little bit more kick out of the butt dyno. Also a little bit more compressor sound (even with the stock airbox). The biggest difference will be with stage 2 chip.

The smooth inside (instead of the harmonica) will deliver laminar airflow instead of turbulent flow, which is always better.

Yeah, that laminar flow should be noticeable. But then theory and real life experience often don't match. So i was wondering.

Installed new 4 bolt control arms.
First one didn't go smoothly: the thread inside one of the bushings sort of stripped because I didn't align it well enough. It was easy to clean out if I would have had the correct size (M12) plug tap, which of course I had not. My friend was kind enough to go and pick one up at the hardware store, after which I was able to fix the thread. On the next try, we jacked the control arm up and it went in smoothly.
Because of the thread issue and having to go to the store, job took 5 hours instead of 2!
Outer tie rods and engine/transmission torque mount are up next.

Friday I consigned POS70 to its fate, signed it over to my son. Parking rules apply, it shares the drive with his '10 XC60 T6 AWD.
Current Volvos:
1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

Replaced the master window switch (1998 OE) in the '00 V70 after it would no longer raise the rear passenger window. Luckily, I had an aftermarket one on hand that was a snug fit but didn't require modification like the other one I replaced.

Picked up a new (to me) 1998 V70 T5 with 200k miles.

Got rear-ended in the '00 V70 by a shiny white Saab that seemed to have borne the brunt of the impact — until later, when I noticed that the rear bumper, which I had fixed a few months ago, was again angled downward. The new bumper brackets seem to have lost their right angles. Hoping I can straighten them.
